Job Description

Hi from Albuquerque, NM! Casey Optical Co. is a 65 year-old established independent private practice in the metro area, and we’re proud to be the 4th generation owners! We have 2 locations, with one full-time doctor for both. As you can imagine, we are optimistically seeking another O.D. to help support the potential growth and expansion for both locations. We welcome new graduates, and are open to training and support for medically-oriented cases. Our focus is primary care exams for glasses and contacts, with the latest instruments including Zeiss i.profiler auto ret/k’s/topo, Neurolens, and Optos California.  We also service more chronic medical eyecare with Adapt Dx, Zeiss OCT-A, Visual Fields, Diopsys ERG, and Lipaflow.  There is opportunity for you to bring on a favorite specialty, whether it be pediatrics, specialty lenses, myopia management, or vision therapy. Dr. Christine Kniffen, the owner, is very open to a creative schedule for you.  She’ll work around parenting obligations, lifestyle, or other local optometry job commitments for part-time employment. She offers competitive compensation, as well as consideration for health, retirement, and CE benefits if full-time.

The board date for licensure in NM is July 22, 2023. If you are licensed in one of the states whose scope is equal to or greater than NM, you may be eligible for Expediated Licensure. Don’t let rumors of a challenging board discourage you! The nature of the administration is much more friendly than in the years past.

Our state of NM has much to offer  you nature lovers who enjoy a temperate, high-desert climate. Activities range from skiing, hiking, mountain biking, road biking, tennis, golf, and pickle-ball. For sports enthusiasts we have Minor League baseball and soccer and UNM college Division I athletics. For foodies, there is a plethora of amazing restaurants, wineries, and infamous green or red chili which will remain in your hearts forever! Being South Dakota born and raised, Dr. Kniffen never thought she would find the satisfaction of life-time enjoyment in the Land-of-Enchantment. Dr. Kniffen only discovered this place due to an assignment to Kirtland AFB some 25 years ago, and she ended up staying. Please reach out to her directly if you have an inclination to see for yourself! 505-217-5195
