Job Description

Live in one of the most beautiful areas of the country – often referred to as the Cape Cod of the Midwest. Practice medical optometry at a busy but comfortably-paced practice with flexibility to build the patient schedule you desire!
Door County Eye Associates is searching for an optometrist to start as early as winter 2023/2024. We are currently a father-daughter optometrist team serving patients living in Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin and throughout the Door County peninsula. My dad, Eric Paulsen, owned and practiced for 40 years before selling the practice to me. He has scaled down his hours to part-time which has significantly increased the demand for patient care. Being a well-established practice in our area, we are currently booked out over 3 months. A new optometrist would be able to quickly and easily fill a schedule with patients.
This is an opportunity to practice full-scope optometry with a lovely patient base in a private practice. Our demographic is largely made up of a retired population but does include patients of all ages (InfantSEE through >100 years old). This position is perfect for an ocular disease enthusiast who wants to manage diabetes, glaucoma, macular degeneration, ocular surface disease and more on a daily basis. Average patients per day is 16-20 (exams and follow-ups combined) with full tech support (pretesting, OCT, VF). We have the technology to practice high-quality rural healthcare including Optovue OCT, Optos California, Humphrey Visual Field, RetEval ERG, iLux2 and Blephex. Busy optical with frame lines such as Silhouette, Etnia Barcelona, OVVO, Maui Jim, Gucci. We fit most patients in daily contact lenses. We are known for our great patient service and thorough medical eye exams.
The ideal candidate for this job would be a kind, positive, friendly and hard-working individual. This job allows flexibility to build what days/hours you want to work as long as you have a consistent schedule. I want you to love your job!
Door County is a gorgeous place to live. It is a major retirement and vacation destination. We are located on a peninsula with Lake Michigan on one side and Green Bay on the other. I spend my summers boating and golfing and my winters cross-country skiing. I feel very lucky to live here and I think you would too!
