Position Summary

As an Optometrist at Lifetime Eyecare by Optical Illusions, you’ll be providing primary eye care and medical eye care for the local Juneau community. You will instantly become an integral part of the healthcare system and do everything from refracting to prescribing correctional lenses to diagnosing and treating conditions related to the ocular system. The practice operates on a 4-day work week (M-Th, no weekends). This position can be either full time or every other quarter (3 months on/off).

Primary Responsibilities

• Perform clinical procedures necessary to correct vision and eye health
• Prescribe treatment and ophthalmic devices, such as glasses and contact lenses
• Examine, diagnose, treat, and manage diseases and disorders of the eyes
• Manage optometry activities and supervise technicians
• Engage and communicate with patients in the community, promoting eye health and preventative care
• Coordinate and co-manage care with ophthalmology and primary care physician colleagues

Qualifications

To be considered, you must meet the following requirements:

• Be licensed to practice in the state of Alaska in good standing
• Experienced in anterior and posterior segment pathology required
• Ability to perform high level CL Fittings and Evaluations
• Demonstrated commitment to continuous learning and personal development
• Willingness to learn new optical products to make personalized recommendations
• Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
• Demonstrated compassion for patients and clients
• Ability to collaborate and work within a team environment
• Specialty Optometry care is helpful to have but not required
• DEA license is helpful to have but not required
